Single purpose: Speed Read helps you read faster by flashing words in rapid sequence on your screen.
All processing is local to your browser.
1. Data Collection
- Personally identifiable information: Not collected.
- Authentication / payment / health data: Not collected.
- Web browsing history: Not collected.
- User activity: Collected only when you activate the extension to display selected text in speed-reading mode (processed locally, not transmitted).
- Website content: Temporarily accessed from the current tab to render the reader. Processed locally; never sent to servers.
- Local preferences: Words-per-minute, font size, color theme, and last session position are stored using Chrome
storageon your device.
2. Data Usage
- Display text using rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) to help you read faster.
- Apply your saved preferences across sessions.
- Provide optional text-to-speech (TTS) if you enable it.
We do not sell, rent, share, or transmit your data to third parties.
3. Data Sharing
- No third-party sharing.
- No analytics, ads, trackers, or remote servers.
4. Permissions Justification
- storage – Save reading preferences locally.
- activeTab – Access the user-initiated active tab to read selected/page text for the reader.
- scripting – Inject code that extracts text and overlays the reader UI on the page.
- tts (optional) – Provide audio narration for accessibility when enabled.
- host permissions – Read page content on specified domains strictly to render the speed-reading interface.
5. Security
- All processing occurs locally in your browser; nothing is sent off-device.
- Only minimal, purpose-bound permissions are requested.
